Owner's Manual
Please read and review your Hyundai Power Equipment owner’s manual before operating your generator.


Outdoor Use Only
Hyundai generators are to be operated outdoors only. Generators produce carbon monoxide exhaust that can be harmful to your health.  If the generator is running near any doors or windows make sure they are closed.

When operating your generator it is best to keep at least four feet of clear space around all sides and the top of the generator.

During operation make sure your generator is solid and on level ground.


Once A Month
Keeping your generator well tuned and in perfect operating condition will ensure you have power when the power goes out. By simply running your generator once a month you will keep it in top form and ready to go when needed.


Hyundai Generators are tuned to run on unleaded gasoline. Do not use a gas/oil mixture for your Hyundai Generator.

When refueling your Hyundai Generator make sure you are in a well ventilated area.

Your Hyundai Generator should always be stored in a well ventilated area.


How To Start Your Generator:

  1. First, consult your Hyundai Generator owner’s manual and become familiar with all controls.
  2. Make sure the generator is outdoors and on level ground.
  3. Check the fuel level and add more unleaded gasoline as needed.
  4. Check the oil level and add more oil if necessary.
  5. Check the air filter and clean if required.
  6. Turn the main breaker ‘off’.
  7. Move the fuel valve to the on position.
  8. Start the generator.
  9. The generator should warm up for 1 to 2 minutes before turning the main breaker to the ‘on’ position.
  10. Connect your power cord(s) to the generator.


Generator Selection

How will you use the generator?
There are three categories where generators are most frequently used:

1. Recreational Use
Our Hyundai Green Power Series inverters are lightweight, compact, and easily transportable. This sleek design makes them great to take when going camping, boating, or even to a concert. 

2. Home Use (backup emergency power)
Hyundai Home Power Series generators are a great source of backup power in the event of a power outage. They can also be transported easily to areas that are not on the power grid making them useful in many different locations.

3. Industrial Use
Hyundai Professional Series generators will be released in the near future. Higher wattage output will allow for greater connectivity to multiple job site tools or home appliances.


Fuel Efficiency & Run Time
When purchasing a generator look for good fuel efficiency and long running times. Hyundai Power Equipment products achieve top scores when rated amongst the competition.


Power Output Quality
Hyundai Power Equipment generators feature an AVR (Automatic Voltage Regulator) that regulates power output at a consistent level. This is extremely important as fluctuations in power can cause equipment to shut down or even damage both your generator and your equipment that is being powered.

Hyundai Green Power Series Inverter technology is the cleanest power offered. There are many benefits to inverter technology those being greater fuel efficiency, lower weight, and less noise.


Size and Ease of Transport
If you are a first time buyer or if you already own a generator consider how you will move and store your unit.

Hyundai Power Equipment offers three models that are lightweight and compact in size. They are: HY1000si, HY2000si and HHD1250.

Larger models such as the HHD3500, HHD6250, and HHD7250 all feature a wheel kit that allows for easy transport.

All Hyundai Power Equipment generators feature dependable easy to start 4-stroke engines. A recoil (pull chord) start is available on all inverter and generator models.

How Much Power Do I Need?

Home User
There are a number of factors in determining how much power is required for your home. Ask yourself these questions when determining what size generator is right for you:

Is your water source from the city or a well?

Pumps used in wells often require 240 volts (3800 watts and up) of power.

What is your household heating source? Electric, heat pump, gas, or oil?

Gas or oil heating systems require very little electricity as they simply have a furnace fan motor circulating the heat. These fan motors can require as little as 2500 watts. If you are using an electric furnace or a heat pump you require 15,000 watts or more.

What type of hot water heater do you have? Electric, gas, or oil?

Approximately 2500 watts is all that is required to run a gas or oil fired heater. Electric heaters require at least 4500 watts.

On average, the typical household can power most appliances using between 3000 to 6500 watts.


Recreational User
Recreational power requirements can vary depending on the needs of the user. There are two typical recreational groups. Those groups are:

  1. Campers, boaters, and picnickers with power requirements between 1000 and 2000 watts. These users are looking to power items such as a blender, electric griddle, coffee machine, and other similar small appliances.
  2. Recreational vehicle users need to consider how they will power major appliances such as       the air conditioning unit. Power requirements can vary depending on the size of your model and air temperatures. Consult your dealer to determine the generator that best suits your needs.


Industrial User
The industrial users needs vary greatly depending on what tools and items are being used. You can determine how much power you require by adding up the wattage requirements for each tool or appliance. Don’t forget to factor in that tools and appliances have higher starting wattage requirements than running wattage requirements.


How do I determine the power required by an appliance?
There are a number of ways to determine the electrical requirements of an appliance or tool. Look around the item for a stamp or name-plate. All electrical motors have an electrical tag that states the electrical requirements. If the power requirements are in a format other than watts you can convert it using the simple equations listed below.

Volts x Amps = Watts
Watts / Volts = Amps
Amps / Watts = Volts


Peak Power and Running Power
Generator packaging will often display both the peak power and running power.

Peak power is the maximum output the generator can produce. Peak power can be supplied for approximately 30 minutes.

Running power is approximately 90% of the peak power and can be supplied for extended periods of time.

Use the running power wattage as a guideline when trying to determine if a generator is able to supply adequate power continuously to your items.
